Linux에서 flash 한글이 깨지지 않도록 하는 방법

어도비에서 리눅스용 플래시를 배포한 이후로 리눅스에서 플래시를 즐기는데 큰 문제는 없다. 아직 성능면에서는 불만이 많지만 동작하는 것이 어딘가? FreeBSD를 쓰지 못하고 리눅스를 사용하는 큰 이유 중에 하나이기도 하다.

어쨌든, 유투브에서 영상을 본다거나 할 때 문제는 없지만 가끔 한글이 포함되어 있는 경우 깨지는 것을 볼 수 있다. 이것은 리눅스용 플래시 플레이어가 폰트를 무조건 Sans (sans-serif)를 사용하기 때문인데, sans serif 폰트가 한글 폰트가 아니면 한글을 정상적으로 출력하지 못한다. .fonts.conf 설정을 통한 binding도 플래시에서는 소용없다.

따라서 한글을 볼 수 있는 방법은 sans serif 폰트를 한글 폰트로 매핑시키는 방법 밖에는 없다. 플래시에서 사용될 폰트를 설정할 수 있으면 좋을텐데 말이다.

물론 나눔고딕에 포함된 영문 글꼴이 마음에 든다면 아무런 문제가 없다. 하지만 DejaVu fonts나 Bitstream Vera를 영문 폰트로 사용하고 싶은 사람에게는 문제가 된다.

본인이 사용하는 꼼수는 sans에 나눔고딕을 매핑시켜두고 serif 폰트에 Dejavu Sans와 나눔고딕을 매핑하여 우분투 폰트 설정을 모두 serif로 (firefox도 serif)로 설정하여 사용하고 있다. 물론 이렇게 설정하면 serif 폰트를 전혀 볼 수 없게 되지만 출력물이 아닌 경우에는 serif를 그리 선호하지 않기 때문에 - 내 경우에는 - 상관없다.

바르샤바 구 시가지에 있는 ZAPIECEK 이라는 이름의 레스토랑에 갔다. 이 이름은 식당이 위치한 거리의 이름이기도 하다. 가격이 비싸보여 스프 하나만 먹었다. 동행한 분이 생선 요리를 먹어서 조금 훔쳐 먹었는데, 양이 충분했기에 따로 주문하지 않은 것이 다행으로 여겨졌다.

가격이 좀 되는 레스토랑답게 아주 예쁘게 세팅되어 있었다.

바르샤바에 가면 old town, new town과 같은 관광지가 있다. 뉴 타운은 가지 않았고, 올드 타운만 갔는데, 일반 도로를 걷다가 "이제부터 올드 타운입니다."라고 표시하듯 길이 옛날 스타일로 깔린다. 따로 경계를 알리는 표지판은 없지만, 이것으로 충분했다.

보이는 건물들의 1층은 모두 상점이다. 각 상점이 개별적으로 독립적인 외향을 가지기 보다는 주위 건물과 거의 동일한 모습을 하고 있어, 전체적으로 보기에는 더 좋았다는 느낌이다.

상점들끼리 합의한 것은 아닐 것 같고, 아마도 바르샤바 복원을 위해 건물 모습은 그대로 둔 것이 아닐까 추측해본다.

이것은 벨기에에서도 마찬가지였다. 유럽 스타일의 건물에 붙어 있던 "Pizza Hut"은 참으로 인상적이었다. 우리나라에 가져온다면 기와집에 피자헛이라는 간판이 매달려 있는, 그런 느낌이랄까. 괜찮지 않나?

바르샤바와 크라코프 모두 바르바칸이라고 불리는 벽돌로 쌓은 성이 있었다. 사진에 보이는 곳은 바르샤바의 바르바칸이며 비교적 잘 보존이 되어 있었다. 사실 바르샤바는 2차대전 때 박살이 났다고 하니, 이것도 보존된 것이 아니라 복원된 것일 수도 있겠다.

두 겹으로 되어 있으며 상당히 튼튼해 보인다. 요즘 시대에 전쟁이 일어난다면 이런 벽돌성은 아무 의미 없겠지만 옛날에는 공략하기 어렵지 않았을까?

바르샤바 구 시가지 광장이다. 평일이기도 했고, 날씨도 그리 좋지 않았기 때문에 사람은 거의 없었다. 길을 몰라 돌아다니다보니 4번 정도 지나갔었다.

박물관이 한 켠에 위치해 있는데, 바르샤바는 2차대전 때 거의 완전히 파괴되었다. 여기 old town도 거의가 복원된 건물들.

박물관 등에서 폴란드의 역사를 보게 되었는데, 우리나라와 비슷하다는 느낌을 많이 받았다. 중국, 러시아, 일본 등의 열강에 끼어, 그들 간의 전쟁을 우리 땅에서 치루는 어이없는 일을 겪었는데, 폴란드도 독일과 러시아에 끼어 많은 피해를 입었더라. 전후 열심히 노력하여 회복한 것을 매우 자랑스럽게 생각하고 있었는데, 그런 점도 우리랑 비슷하지 않나 싶다.

유럽에서 처음으로 가본 나라여서 그런지, 아니면 동질감을 느껴서 그런지 모르겠는데, 다시 한 번 가보고 싶고, 좀 더 알고 싶은 그런 나라다.

바르샤바에 있는 구 왕궁. 멍하니 앞에 서 있는데 나팔 소리가 났다. 연주가 끝나고 몇 초 뒤에 다시 똑같은 음악이 흘러나왔다. 그리고 세 번째 (똑같은) 연주가 흘러나올 때 알았다. 라이브라는 걸.

저 창문들 중 하나에 나팔이 하나 빼꼼히 튀어나와 있었다. 4번째 연주가 흐르고 있을 때 나도 모르게 그 멜로디를 따라 흥얼거리고 있더라. 슬프면서도 아름다운 멜로디였는데 지금은 완전히 까먹었다. 머리 참 나쁘다.

녹화해야겠다라는 생각이 들었을 때는 4번째 연주가 이미 절반이 지난 뒤였고, 4번째 연주를 마치고 나팔은 창 안으로 들어간 후 다시는 나오지 않았다.

평일이라 한산한 거리. 깔끔하게 정돈된 길 오른쪽에는 크고 화려한 건물들이 가득했다.

국내에 있을 때 보통 낮 시간에는 연구실에만 박혀 있으니, 잠시 일이 있어서 낮 시간에 거리를 걷고 있으면 기분이 묘할 때가 있다.

국내에서도 그러한데 외국의 한산하고 예쁜 길을 걷고 있으니 참으로 기분이 좋더라. 여유롭고 편안하면서도 약간은 흥분되는 그런 느낌.

단 하나의 문제가 있었다면 눈에 흠뻑 젖어버린 신발.

폴란드 바르샤바 중심지에 있는 사스키 공원. 여름에 왔다면 정말로 예뻤을 것인데... 완전히 눈에 덮여 있었기 때문에 독특한 풍경을 맛볼 수가 없었다. 이렇게 눈에 덮여버리면 그냥 한국에서 거리를 보는 것과 다를 것이 없지 않은가!

어느 도시를 가든 Centrum이라는 곳이 있더라. 외국인 녀석에게 물어보니 어떤 도시든 최초에 사람들이 모여들기 시작했던 위치가 있지 않느냐 하더라.

비록 현 시점에서 Centrum이라고 불리는 곳이 실제로 도시의 중심일 필요는 없는 것이긴 하다만, 바르샤바의 Centrum는 중심에 위치한다.

Centrum에 서 있는 이 돌덩어리에는 다른 도시와의 거리가 기록되어 있는데, 이상하게 가보고 싶다는 생각이 들었던 GDANSK도 있다. '항구 도시인 그단스크는 내 고향인 부산과 비슷하지 않을까'하는 막연한 기분이 들어서 그런 것 같다.

언젠가 폴란드를 다시 가게 된다면 그단스크에 꼭 가봐야지.

어렸을 때, 골목길을 다닐 때 무서웠던 건 귀신이었다. 이제 골목길을 보면 사람이 무섭다.

세상이 흉흉해 지는 것인지, 원래부터 세상은 흉흉한 것인데 이제서야 내가 깨닫고 있는 것인지는 몰라도, 요즘 전파를 타고 흐르는 뉴스들은 하나 같이 겁나는 것들 뿐이다.

내가 이 길을 걷는 것이 무섭기 보다는, 내가 아끼는 사람들이 다칠까 더 무섭다.

잠시 들어가서 맥주와 스프를 즐겼다. 좋은 사람들이 가게를 운영하고 있었고, 때마침 생일을 맞은 사람이 있어 조용한 파티가 진행중이었다.

어딜가나 사람 사는 것은 비슷하고 따뜻하다.
